Engineers in Action is hiring a Social Media Intern. EIA seeks to alleviate rural poverty by leveraging the resources of our global partners to engage under-served communities and their governments to implement life-changing WASH projects and bridges needed to access basic services and infrastructure, simultaneously providing solutions to rural poverty and building local capacity to maintain those solutions for generations to come. The volunteers who help build our projects become the leaders our world needs to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Applicants will participate in a 3-6 month internship. The ideal candidate is studying marketing or has experience in social media content creation with a passion for international development. Depending on the candidate, this could be either a part-time fully remote position, or a seasonal in-country internship to capture and create media in the field.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Creation: Develop engaging and creative content for our social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. This includes graphics, videos, and written content.
Community Engagement: Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions. Engage with our audience by responding to inquiries, comments, and messages in a timely and professional manner.
Campaign Support: Assist in the development and execution of social media campaigns to promote events, initiatives, and fundraising efforts. This may involve creating content calendars, scheduling posts, and tracking campaign performance.
Marketing Material Creation: Develop content for marketing materials, including but not limited to newsletters, presentation templates, website content, posters, advertisements, etc.
Research and Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in social media marketing. Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and audience preferences to inform our social media strategy.
Analytics and Reporting: Track key social media metrics, such as reach, engagement, and follower growth. Compile regular reports to evaluate the performance of our social media efforts and identify areas for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Passion for EIA’s mission and international non-profit work
Exceptional, professional, and detail-oriented organizational skills with excellent time management and communication skills.
A positive, optimistic, and can-do attitude with the ability to work with or without direction and or direct supervision.
Creative, energetic, and self-motivated, with a proven track record of taking initiative and problem solving
Comfortable with our perpetual drive for improvement
Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner to external partners
Passion for social media and digital marketing.
Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).
Basic graphic design skills and experience with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (preferred but not required).
Experience in social media or marketing
Preference for applicants who have gone through the EIA Program
LOCATION
This position offers two options:
A three to six-month commitment in Bolivia or Eswatini. If the first assignment is excellent, an additional six month assignment may be offered. This would be a full-time position.
A fully remote position, with the option for part-time flexible work depending on the candidate and the goals of the internship.
BENEFITS
Interns will receive a $700/month stipend. There may be flexibility to increase compensation for this position depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Please don’t hesitate to inquire about that possibility if needed.
